When Patrick Fitzgibbons
attended his first scooter rally in the summer of '94,
he had no idea that his curiosity about scooters would
become his passion.
Back then there weren't
any local scooter shops around. If you couldn't work
on your scoot, you couldn't ride.
Patrick's first scooter,
a '62 Vespa GL was completed in April of '95.
He opened up P-town Scooters
in Sept 2000 with the first shop on N.W. Quimby. They
later moved to a temporary shop just off Interstate.
The shop offered repairs and parts for vintage scooters.
P-Town's current facility is located at 3347 S.E. Division.

It is more than just
a scooter shop though. They truly love scooters and
the people who ride them. They offer scooter guidance
counseling for newcomers, helping match people with
the right scooter. Any uneasiness scooter newbies may
have had will be gone after talking with the P-Town
crew.
It consists of Patrick,
Steve Sellers, Jim Smith and of course Sara Atkeson,
the roller derby queen. They are all active participants
in the scooter community and are always glad to lend
a hand. I have always been treated great, whether I
came in for some advice or to just buy a cable.
Having worked on most of
the vintage bikes in the Portland area, they know what
it takes to make a scooter runsmoothly. Keeping their
customers happy with their purchase is important to
them. Before putting your money down on a scooter, have
the P-Town team check it out. This is another one of
their free services. |
In the
near future, you will also see Patrick's Ape delivery
scooter around town transporting customer's scooters
to them.
One of
my favorite P-Town memories was when I lost my rear
brakes at the Las Vegas rally. Who came to my rescue?
Patrick, of course. Because of his help that day and
on a few other occasions, he has taught me the true
importance of knowing how to work on your scooters.
I now do 99% of my repairs myself thanks to Patrick's
encouragement. |
All OSC members
receive discounts on cables and 2
stroke oil.

While
you are there check out their great assortment of accessories
from lights to racks, Modified t-shirts. If they don't
have it they will order it for you. They also feature
quite a few used vintage and modern bikes. Their newest
line of scooters is CPI, a Taiwan based company. Jim
Smith, co-owner and salesman of the shop is sold on
them. He plans to ride one in the upcoming cross-country
Cannonball Run next September.
P-Town
Scooters has always been a great sponsor of rallies
and has given back to the community. Stop on by and
give them a visit. Their hours are Tuesday-Friday 11-7pm
and Saturday 11-4pm. |
